Three things this tool gets right that generic AI writers don’t.
A cohesive narrative with 2–3 STAR examples, each addressing multiple selection criteria — not the outdated criterion-by-criterion format.
APS5 vs EL1 vs SES need different scope and tone. The generator applies the right ILS verbs and WLS expectations for your level.
Federal APS, NSW Clerk Grades, VIC VPS, QLD AO, ACT, SA, WA — all mapped onto the same level framework so you can pitch anywhere.
An APS pitch (also called a “statement of claims”, “one-page pitch”, or “selection criteria response”) is a narrative document that demonstrates how your experience matches the job’s selection criteria, framed at the right classification level. The modern format weaves 2–3 STAR examples into a flowing pitch rather than answering each criterion in isolation.
Pitches typically run 500–1,000 words depending on level. Lower levels (APS1–3) are shorter and emphasise reliability and task completion. Mid levels (APS5–6) emphasise specialist judgement and independent work. EL and SES levels emphasise strategic leadership, section management, and organisational outcomes.
Yes. The APS Pitch Builder is free to use without an account. You get 2 generations per day from the same network. If you need more, sign up for a free Sirra account — it adds resume tailoring, ATS scoring, interview prep, and tracking for every job you apply to.
No. Without an account, nothing you paste is stored on our servers — your job description, experience, and the generated pitch are processed in-memory and discarded. We don't track your inputs against your IP. If you create a Sirra account later, you'll have the option to save pitches against specific jobs.
Pick the level the role is advertised at. Most APS jobs list this as "APS3", "APS5", "EL1", etc. State and council roles use different terminology (ASO, AO, VPS, Clerk Grade, Band, etc.) — pick the closest APS equivalent. The level matters because the framework expectations (autonomy, complexity, leadership) differ significantly between, say, APS3 and EL1, and your pitch needs to demonstrate readiness for the right level.
Yes. The same Integrated Leadership System (ILS) and Work Level Standards (WLS) framing applies across most Australian public sector jurisdictions. NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, ACT, and council roles all map onto APS-equivalent levels, and the pitch will be framed appropriately. Pick the closest APS-equivalent from the dropdown.
The free tool generates one pitch for one role. Sirra's full app tracks every application you make, generates a tailored resume + pitch + cover letter for each one, scores your match against the job, identifies missing skills, and prepares you for the interview. The full app is built around the same gov frameworks but with everything integrated into a single workflow.
